Cultural Diversity
As the largest Pacific city, Auckland City is the ideal location to make Power Shift a truly multicultural event – people of different backgrounds and knowledge, all sharing in the vision of a healthy future for New Zealand and the Pacific region.
We want to see a big mix of school students, university students, young professionals and Maori and Pacific Island communities. We’ll be organising a campaign blitz around the 8 universities throughout New Zealand to get the message out as widely as possible. We have also recruited 50 Power Shift agents whose core roles will be to recruit people to come to Power Shift.
Diversity of cultures and backgrounds is our top priority. Special effort and attention is going into building partnerships to ensure an excitingly diverse and culturally supportive event.
Young organisers who are part of the 350 Pacific network in Pacific Islands like Tonga, Fiji and the Solomon Islands are already planning and fundraising to make the trip over to Power Shift! Read more about our Pacific outreach here.
